Abstract:

Wide range of fields exists in south of khuzestan that have problem such as low fertility, lack of water for irigation and salinity. Forage sorghum can be cultivated in this field because of its resistance to unsuitable environment condition and low fertility of soil. This study was conducted for survey of plant density change effect on green fodder and dry matter of Speed feed Forage Sorghum in Ahwaz Agriculture research center in 1999 and 2001. Experiment was conducted as split plots and randomize complete blocks in four replications. Main plots included four distances between cultivation lines 30, 45, 60 and 75cm, subplots included three distances between plants on cultivation lines 4, 8 and 12cm. The sowing date was near the end May. Chemical fertilizers included Urea, Ammonium Diphosphate and Potassium Sulphate that applied 100, 100, 50 kg/ha respectively. After each cutting Urea applied in 100 kg/ha distributed between rows as Top dressing.The result showed that there was not significant difference among cultivation lines distance and difference among plant distance on cultivation lines treatments for green fodder, dry matter and height of plant. Whereas, interaction effects of treatments were significant at 5% probability level in view of green fodder. Difference among cultivation lines distance and difference among plant distance On cultivation lines treatments and their interaction effects there was very significant at 1 % level for tillering coefficient. Biennial means comparison showed that decreasing in plant density (because of increasing in plant apart) the plants can extremely compensate low density by increasing tillering coefficient and it caused which green fodder and dry matter did not decrease. The highest green fodder in rate 110.549 ton/ha and dry matter in rate 23.554 ton/ha obtained for cultivation lines 45cm distance and plant 4cm distance on cultivation lines treatments. The lowest green fodder yield in rate 76.40 ton/ha and dry matter in rate 17.32 ton/ha obtained for cultivation lines 75cm distance and plant 12cm distance on cultivation lines treatments.
