Abstract:

Some soils due to undesirable technical specifications and having substantial amounts of clay or silt, for road construction are inferior. in cases where the soil is undesirable technical specifications to promote technical parameters and in cases where soil replacement is not economical, soil improvement must be investigated. in this project, for soil stabilization used from waste cellulosic fibers mixed with polyvinyl alcohol resin. this mixtures are commonly found in loom factories and workshops for waste. laboratory variables is the percentage of fiber and processing period and CBR and compression tests were conducted in dry conditions. by doing the compression test on sand without additives and sand with 0.5% and 1% of cellulosic fibers mixed with polyvinyl alcohol resin it was found that optimum moisture content has been reduced to the amount of 1%. CBR tests done in the dry state with no additives and four different content of fibers (0.125, 0.25, 0.5, 1) and with two different curing period (6 and 24 hours) and it was found that the CBR value had the highest increase by adding 0.25 percent of fibers and 24 hours of curing in comparison to the sand without additives.
