Abstract:

The first decades of the 20th century witnessed massacres and wars, but since its last decade there have been modifications in international security through globalization discourse. In this context, various theories were presented about the future of international security. Such a condition has allowed us to pose an important question: Does globalization increase or decrease the probability of war among states? In this paper, we consider the relationship between the two variables of the ‘liberal economy’ and ‘the issue of war and peace’ in the international arena, from the perspective of the three important schools of international relations. From a liberal point of view, a liberal economy can preclude war and guarantee the sustainability of peace. Hence, in the era of globalization, the war will likely be reduced, but realists not only don’t consider the liberal economy as a barrier to war, but believe that it acts as a war drive. Marxists have also considered liberal economics inherently susceptible to war. In their view, despite the capitalist system, the peace and security of the world is always threatened. The present paper does not approve or reject these schools of thought; rather, it is a comparative analysis of their approaches towards the relation between liberal economy and the international security.
