Abstract:

Background:Colorectal cancer(CRC) is one of the most common gastrointestinal cancers in the world. About 1.2 million cases of colon cancer occur worldwide each year, leading to death in about 50% of cases. Colon tumors are the second most common gastrointestinal tumor in the world and the third most common tumor in women in Iran and the fifth most common in men. Ulcerative colitis(UC) , is a form of inflammatory bowel disease that affects the colon, especially the colon, including the colon and rectum. ulcerative colitis can lead to colorectal cancer. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of colorectal cancer in people with ulcerative colitis.Method:We searched pubmed and Google scholar databases until 2019 prevalence, colorectal cancer and ulcerative colitis keywords. By searching these databases ,116 articles were foundin pubmed and 300 articles were found in Google scholar. From 416 articles with investigating titles, we exclude 333 articles ,and with reading abstract we exclude 52 articles. Finally we include 31 articles into our study. Finding:In one article, the overall prevalence of CRC in each patient with ulcerative colitis was estimated to be 3.7%, with an overall incidence of 3 in 1000 and an incidence of 6 in 1000 children. In another article, the prevalence of CRC in patients with UC in Korea was .37%, and the cumulative risk was .7% at 10 years and 7.9% at 20 years and at 33.2% at 30 years. The overall prevalence in the Asian study was .85%, and the risk of colon cancer was .02% at 10 years, 4 .81% at 20 years, and 13.91% at 30 years. In one article, the cumulative probabilities of the risk of CRC were estimated to be 4.4% at 10 years, at 8.6% at 20 years and at 12.7% at 30 years.other articles reviewed also show the incidence of CRC in patients with ulcerative colitis, at 1.58 per 1000 patients, at 4.07 per 1000 patients in the second decade of life, and at 4.55 per 1000 patient in the third decade of the disease. Conclusion:According to the results, the prevalence of colorectal cancer in ulcerative colitis patients is higher than normal people, so this risk is related to the location and extent of ulcerative colitis. Therefore, it is recommended that people with ulcerative colitis undergo biopsy testing and harvesting every two years to prevent colorectal cancer and adopt a healthy diet. However, further studies are needed.
