Abstract:

So far, various methods and materials have been used to enclose and improve the performance of concrete members. Enhancing the cross section or concrete jacket is one of these methods, which is done by placing a net of reinforcement around the column and pouring new concrete. The use of concrete jacket is not a good method due to execution problems, high execution and maintenance time, increasing the column and dead load dimension of the structure, reducing the useful space and lack of coordination with the structure architecture. Using steel coatings in the form of two welded shells or shelves Welded or screwed steel wires are placed around the column, another method. This type of coating creates a passive enclosure that activates after the concrete has expanded. The problems caused by the corrosion of steel sheets and the difficult and time-consuming steps of creating these overlays led to the use of FRP composite sheets as a new material in structural engineering, gradually being used as a replacement for steel cladding in column enclosures. The most important advantage of these composites over steel is corrosion resistance. Another advantage of these materials is that they are orthotropic; So that its characteristics can be used well in the desired direction.
