Abstract:

The storage tank is a place for storing kerosene, which due to variable pressure and temperature, after 120 days, due to fatigue, the welding area is damaged. This study was conducted with the aim of scientifically investigating this situation by the finite element method. The finite element analysis method simulated the problem and was slightly different from the real value. Independence from the mesh was also proven. The results showed that the change in the roof material of the reservoir could not have a positive effect. Only a combination of two layers of carbon steel and Mo40 steel in a ratio of 80 to 20% can increase fatigue life. By increasing the thickness of the roof to the range of 12 mm, the life of the tank can be increased up to three years. The corner dimensions of the tank do not have a significant effect on determining the service life and ultimately the thickness and type of welding affect the service life of the tank. Using the E7024 electrode can increase the fatigue life by one month. Controlling the effect of temperature on the tank, as well as the pressure applied, can increase the service life to many years.
