A Method for Determining the Amount of Asphaltene Adsorbed to Metal Surfaces Upon Exposure to Solvents abstract

Quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) has been used to investigating the effect of different factors suchas concentration, n-hexane ratio on the asphaltene adsorption on a metal surface. Different tolueneasphaltenesolution at concentrations of 100 to 2000 mg /L have been used for asphaltene adsorptionexperiments on metal and surfaces of carbonate rock. Experimental results showed that the asphalteneadsorption on gold surface has increased by increase in concentration of asphaltene and ratio of nhexaneto toluene. Adsorption of asphaltene is extremely dependent on the nature of the solvent, so thatwhen the hexane/toluene ratio increases, absorption of asphaltene from the solution increases to acertain ratio and then decreases
