Abstract:

This paper presents a bi-objective optimal operation framework for Co-phase Traction Power Systems (CCTPSs). Each Traction Power System (TPS) can exchange energy with the utility grid and the adjacent TPSs can transfer power through power transfer controllers (PTC). Also, these CCTPSs are planned to minimize their operation costs as well as their voltage unbalanced ratio (VUR) on the utility grid side. Renewable energy resources are considered to study their impacts on the proposed objectives, including wind turbine and PV modules. Furthermore, energy storage systems are employed as dispatchable energy resources. The proposed multi-objective energy management model is formulated as a Mixed-Integer Quadratically-Constrained Programming (MIQCP) problem and solved by the weighted sum approach. This approach is a subset of Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) for multi-objective optimization problems, in which the objective functions need to be optimized simultaneously. The simulation results, utilizing GAMS optimization software, show that the proposed model improves the VUR effectively and reduces the operation cost
