Abstract:
Due to the high consumption of natural gas fuel in the domestic demand, especially in the cold seasons, power plants have significant problems in supplying natural gas fuel. Therefore, they use alternative fuels such as fuel oil and diesel; replacing natural gas with these fuels reduces the power plant's efficiency and leads to major environmental problems. Peak-shaving is a suitable solution for this issue, which means liquefaction and natural gas storage in hot seasons and use it in cold seasons. In the first step, the appropriate LNG production cycle is chosen for the Shahid Mofateh power plant's fuel peak-shaving in Hamedan, Iran. The mixed refrigerant method was utilized to cool down the natural gas stream. Thermodynamic analysis, including energy and exergy analyses, was performed in this study. Exergy destruction of all devices was calculated, one of the heat exchangers identified with the highest exergy destruction. The capacity of the LNG production process is ۵۷۸۵۵ kg/h. The specific energy consumption (SEC) of the optimized case is ۰.۳۲, which is ۵.۵% better than the base cycle. The proposed cycle's exergy efficiency is ۳۷%, and the coefficient of performance (COP) is ۲.۴۵.
