Abstract:

Centrifugal microfluidic devices have been focus of academic and industrial researches in recent years due to their profound potential applications in the chemical and biological fields. In this work, blood separation on centrifugal microfluidics has been studied. In order to assimilate the subject, at first, about ۳۰ related articles was chosen to study leading to provide an overview of the subject. At the next step, low efficiency of plasma separation, low volume of collecting plasma, flow control through conventional valves which are hydrophobic were found out as some challenges imposing us to difficulties in this work. Low volume of transferred plasma was considered as the main challenge and so as to achieve a solution, distancing of the collecting chamber far from the center of the rotation axis was proposed, also to prevent from unpleasant migration of the unwanted blood to the collecting chamber, a magnetic micro valve was located in the path connecting separation and collecting chambers to each other. Finally, to prove the novelty, an experiment was designed in which rotation speed and angle of the connecting pipe effect as the independent variables, on the volume of the transferred plasma as dependent variable were studied.
