Consequence modeling of LPG storage tank leakage in Abadan refinery abstract

The chemical industry today is processing ever more hazardous substances within densely populated areas. The risks emerging from the storage, handling, processing, and distribution of these hazardous materials are becoming more and more complex. To deal with such issues, a wide array of chemical risk management techniques has been developed. Successful process risk management in chemical plants hinges on comprehensive and detailed hazard mapping and on an understanding of possible consequences [1]. The aim of this study is to analyze the consequence of major accidents of a case study in the spherical tank unit in Abadan (Iran) by using PHAST software. In this study, three leakage scenarios were studied in order to model the incidents and Based on the results of modeling, some recommendations are suggested to prevent or mitigatepossible Consequences of accidents.
