Abstract:
A new cascaded sub-multilevel converter is presented in this conductedstudy. The main feature of this converter is boosting capability with lownumber of power electronic components, so it’s suitable forphotovoltaic applications. To determine the magnitude of voltage of DCsources, two methods are described. This multilevel converter iscompared with other topologies in aspect of number of power electroniccomponents and boosting voltage capability. According to thiscomparison, the proposed topology utilizes lower number of DC inputvoltages, power switches, diodes and capacitors. These benefitsdecrease the costs, reduce the size of structure and simplify the controlcircuit. In the rest of the paper, various simulation results byPSCAD/EMTDC software are presented to prove the advantages of theproposed topology.
