EARTHQUAKE STABILITY ANALYSIS OF WADI ARAB DAM IN JORDAN

The earthquake stability of Wadi Arab Dam. a major embankment dam in Jordan located in the seisinically aclivc Jordan Valley, is investigated based on the expecled scismicity in the region. Two basic methods of analysis are used in this study, [۱] Limit State Equilibrium techniques: Simplified Bishop, Modified Fellenius, and Sarma, and [۲] Newmark Displacement method (۱,۲,۳,۴,۵), for Newmark method, two carthquake records were uscd in the analysis, El-Centro N-S, and Tast S-E. Results of this study show that Wadi Arab dam is stable under the expected carthquake forces
