THE VELOCITIES OF ELASTIC WAVES IN WATER-SATURATED SOIL AND THEIR APPLICATION IN ENGINEERING GEOLOGY

In this paper, the relations between frame wave velocities V. Vand seismic wave velocities Ve V, of water-saturated porous solid were shown in illustrations. A new method (with a example in Lanzhou) was suggested which was used to calculate the frame wave velocities of water saturated soil from the velocities measured in site. Several principal aspects influening velocities by water were discussed. The condition and the rationality of application of frame wave velocities in engineering geology were discussed also.
