Abstract:

Formation of organic and inorganic sclae during crude oil production, and corrosion caused by formation of these sediments is a common problem in the oil industry that can lead to flow interruption and numerous economic losses. Prevention or reduction of deposition by modifying the surface properties could be considered as one interestingapproach to address the problem. In this study, Teflon superhydrophobic coating with hierarchical structure was produced by spraying method on metal surface and the efficiency of this coating in reducing asphaltene deposition and calcium carbonate deposition as one of the most common and important organic and inorganic sedimentswas investigated. The results showed that Teflon superhydrophobic coating can reduce asphaltene depositions and calcium carbonate scale by more than ۵۶% and ۷۴%, respectively. The corrosion behavior of the superhydrophobic coating was evaluated in ۳.۵ wt% sodium chloride solution by potentiodynamic polarization test. The results ofthe corrosion test showed that the superhydrophobic Teflon coating increased the corrosion resistance by about ۳۶۰ times.
