Abstract:

In this study, the effect of thermal radiation and dispersion of toxic gases caused by Ahvaz oneهoperational area flare was modeled and evaluated using PHAST and FLARE SIM softwares. When the flame is extinguished, the gases emitted to burn in the flare can be released into the atmosphere. According to the gas diffusion model that was modeled in PHAST software, the flammable gas of HP, LLP and LP flares, if they are ۵۰% lower than their ignition level, up to ۱۳۳, ۸۰ and ۹۲ meters, respectively, from the source of emission. They are released in the worst weather conditions (wind speed ۱.۵ meters per second and stable weather). Only in the case of LP flare or low pressure there is a dangerous concentration of hydrogen sulfide gas, which according to the IDLH concentration of hydrogen sulfide gas at ۱۰۰ ppm, if the combustion system breaks down when the gas leaves the LP flare, it can reach a distance of ۱۷۷ meters from the starting point. However, this distance is not outside the Flare area.
