Abstract:
In this paper, we investigate the effects of partially removed substrate and a uniplanar electromagnetic band-gap (UCEBG) structure in reducing mutual coupling of aperture coupled patch array antenna (ACPAA). At first, a novel slot on patch is introduced to effectively enhance the bandwidth and miniaturizethe antenna element. The bandwidth of the modified patch is increased by the factor of ۱.۵ and the size decreased ۳۰%. Then we investigate a ۱×۲ array antenna with UC-EBG cells which leads to more than ۴۰dB rejection at center frequency of ۱۲GHz. After that, a ۲×۲ elements array antenna has been designed and by using UCEBG, mutual coupling between arrays decreased more than ۵dB. The results of conventional EBG and the proposed structure are compared.
