Abstract:
Mind map technique is one of the pedagogical practices that writing instructors use to help students with developing ideas for their writing tasks. This study presents a review of research conducted on mind map technique for improving L۲ writing ability and performance in language teaching and learning contexts. In so doing, the paper first presents the definitions for mind map technique and elaborates on the ways in which the technique is implemented in L۲ classrooms. Then, a review of recent studies that used mind map technique to teach different aspects of L۲ writing was presented. The paper then elaborates on the pedagogical implications of the technique and presents many venues for future research in the field. The paper also includes some of the limitations or challenges that teachers may face. When using Mind Map technique.
