Assessing the risk factors for breast cancer in women: A systematic review

Introduction: Breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer death in women after lung cancer. According to studies, several factors are involved in the development of breast cancer. Therefore, this review study was conducted to investigate the risk factor for breast cancer in women. Materials and Methods: This review study was performed by searching MEDLINE (Ovid) and EMBASE (Ovid), pubmed and Google Scholar search engines, with the Persian keywords breast cancer, risk, women's health and their English equivalents in the period ۲۰۰۰ to ۲۰۲۰. The number of initial articles was ۳۳. The full text of articles related to various types of human clinical trials as well as the results of studies have been independently reviewed by two researchers and after screening related articles, they have been selected in ۱۲ articles and used in the present study. Results: Results consistency, reduction in lactation duration (less than ۴۴ months), premature menstruation, late menopause, hormone therapy, postmenopausal hormone therapy, delayed onset of menopause, use of birth control pills and most importantly activities related to Lifestyle and quality of life such as sedentary lifestyle, air pollution and job changes have been cited as risk factors for breast cancer. Conclusion: The results of the present study showed that the risk factor with high prevalence in women is related to the quality of life of individuals that by training and creating a suitable environment, a step can be taken to either correct or modify these risk factors.
