Abstract:
In this work, the effect of red LED light (۶۲۰-۶۴۵ nm) and blue LED light (۴۶۰-۴۷۵ nm) on the growth pattern and beta-carotene production through Dunaliella salina cells were investigated. Microalgae cells were cultivated under ۲۰۰ μmole m-۲ s-۱ light intensity of blue and red lights for about ۳۰ days. The results revealed that the microalgae cells under red light had a better growth pattern and higher beta-carotene accumulation (۱۰.۶۳ μg beta-carotene per mg-۱ of cell dry weight) compared to the blue light (۵.۹۲ μg mg-۱). Besides, the growth procedure for both of the colored light samples were the same until the middle of the cultivation period, but red light spectra had better performance compared to its counterpart during the second section of the cultivation period.
