Abstract:
The desolvation method was employed to design and synthesize chitosan nanoparticles loaded with curcumin in this research. The effect of synthesis parameters on particle size and loading efficiencies, such as curcumin concentration and ethanol solution volume, was statistically studied using the design of experiments (DOE) software. The maximal drug loading was ۱۱.۹ %, and the chitosan nanoparticles were ۶۶.۳ nm in size. These nanoparticles loaded with curcumin and pure curcumin has an inhibitory effect on the development of S. mutans. The inhibitory effect of NPs loaded with the drug on S. mutans biofilm formation on the dental model was also studied, and the minimum inhibitory concentration was ۰.۱۱۴ mg/ml. Furthermore, the effect of pH on the release rate was investigated, and the results showed that lower pH increases the release rate. These nanoparticles could be employed in dental scaling products, according to these findings.
