Abstract:
Underbalanced drilling (UBD) is gaining popularity as a drilling methodology to overcome some of the problems encountered in conventional overbalanced drilling. The primary and main objectives of underbalanced drilling are to minimize drilling-induced formation damage, eliminate drilling fluid losses and improve drilling performance. Various methods are used to create conditions under balance pressure, one of these methods is the use of nitrogen as drilling fluid. To prepare pure nitrogen according to the required volume at the time of drilling, the cost of nitrogen production and transportation, nitrogen separation units by membrane method (polymer fibers) are used next to drilling rigs. In this study, the operation and assembly of these nitrogen separating units on the drilling rig and the performance of these polymer fibers will be investigated.
