Review of Corrosion Tests and Related Standards in Marine Industries

ASTM's AWARD-WINING Manual 20 has been revised and updated to include current and state-ofthe- art technologies in corrosion testing and standardization. Corrosion testing is one of the most important aspects of corrosion control because it is used to advance technology and to determine the most effective and economical means to achieve acceptable performance. A large number of factors affect corrosion behavior so that there is no universal corrosion test. ASTM and other organization such as NACE, ISO, and others have standardized many tests and practices. Thus, this article provides a valuable resource describing and listing a large number of tests ranging from highlyaccelerated laboratory tests to field service trials. Every parts of this article are used of different standards and documents from Insurances and Register Companies. All of these data refer to creditable database. For example about glossary of corrosion-related acronyms is referenced to NACE. Other simples are referenced to, ASME, ASTM, ASM etc. This article has overall review on these processes in the world especially in Iran.
