Design of Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum Communication Systems Using Low-Density Parity-Check Codes abstract
We design a joint channel coding and spectrum spreading scheme by using Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) codes in telecommunication systems. In this paper, the goal is to reach protection, secrecy, and resistance against all undesirable effects various communication channels and environment. The designed system is low-complexity and practically implementable which can protect system against channel noise, interception, jamming, and interference from other channels and users. We evaluate the Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of the joint proposed scheme and do a fair comparison with the case of a classical communication system which is equipped with a strong channel coding scheme such as LDPC codes. In the proposed joint scheme, the parity-check matrix of code is utilized in both spreading and de-spreading procedures. The sum-product algorithm is used for the channel decoding, and a BPSK modulation with the frequency hopping is considered. It is sown that the BER reduces by applying spreading techniques. We show that the frequency hopping technique provide better results in comparison with the direct sequence spread spectrum technique from the BER point of view.
