Histochemical study of the effect of ginseng on glycogen content in different regions of the liver in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) abstract

The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of adding Panax ginseng on the glycogen content of the liver in rainbow trout. The experimental groups were fed with 100 , 150 and 200 g/kg of aqueous ginseng extract diet, respectively. The results showed that in all four study groups, there was no statistically significant difference in hepatic glycogen content in superficial and deep areas and also in similar areas of the two halves of the organ (p>0.05).The glycogen content in all three groups receiving ginseng increased significantly compared to the control group (p<0.05).
