Abstract:

Capacitor placement is one of the important issues in the field of power distribution systems that plays the role of a source of reactive power injection in near-load locations. Inaccurate capacitor placement causes loss of capital and sometimes an increase in system losses. One of the basic principles of capacitor placement is the network load modeling, which leads to place capacitors in proper locations. In this paper, a procedure with the practical approach is proposed for load modeling in the distribution network of Khorasan Razavi province. Besides, the determined load models are corrected by using defined coefficients, in order to be as close as possible to the actual nature of electrical loads. The Optimal Capacitor Placement tool in Digsilent software is modified by using an algorithm that assigns the optimal location for capacitors. Eventually, software results confirm the simulation of the compatibility and validity of this algorithm and load correction coefficients.
