Abstract:

There are a wide range of bioactive compounds in edible and medicinal mushrooms includingpolysaccharides (especially β-glucans), glycoproteins, peptides, terpenoids, sterols, and phenolic compounds. These compounds help prevent, treat, and recover from illness. Identification of factors affecting biosynthesisis very important for the production of bioactive compounds on industrial scales and pharmaceutical systems. Therefore, bioinformatics methods can be used to analysis of the cellular and molecular structure of enzymeseffective in biosynthesis processes and increase the production of bioactive compounds. The results of studiesshow that mineral ions such as zinc, copper, calcium, iron, and selenium can enhance the expression of genesthat lead to the production of more bioactive compounds of edible and medicinal mushrooms, such aspolysaccharides, triterpenoids and ganodric acids. The use of these findings could improve the biosynthesisof bioactive compounds and the performance of pharmaceutical biotechnology systems for the production ofnatural superfoods, dietary supplements and medicines.
