The effect of social capital components on the resilience of rural settlements to earthquakes (Case study: Central district of Jiroft County)

Social capital is one of the most important human criteria related to resilience in a social system. Therefore, it plays an important role in improving rural resilience in rural communities. The present study analyzes the effect of social capital components on the resilience of rural settlements in the central part of Jiroft city. This research was conducted using a quantitative and survey method and a questionnaire at ۴۰۰ households in ۳۰ sample villages. Descriptive-analytical methods such as mean difference, standard deviation, the correlation coefficient of Kendal's tau-b, and multiple regression were used to provide a meaningful framework for the effect of social capital components on the resilience of rural settlements in the study area. Therefore, the results showed a positive and significant relationship between social capital indicators and the resilience of rural settlements in the study area. Also, it was found that the social awareness index with a coefficient of ۰.۲۴۹, social cohesion index with a coefficient of ۰.۳۳۳, and social trust index with a coefficient of ۰.۱۸۴ had a more significant role in improving the resilience of rural settlements in the study area.
