Abstract:
The most critical aspect of plant survival and reproduction is seed germination. Germination testing is often the most reliable way of assessing viability, but the selection of appropriate methods is complex. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of the influence of three constant temperatures viz. ۱۵°C, ۲۰°C and ۲۵°C, ۲ alternate temperatures viz. ۲۰/۲۵°C, ۲۰/۳۰°C, and five germination media viz. between paper (BP), top of paper (TP), pleated paper, perlite and sand on germination of S.persica and S.begelovii. The optimum temperature for the germination of S.persica and S.bigelovii seeds was recorded “۲۵°C and ۲۰-۳۰°C”, while the suitable germination media was recorded “BP and TP” respectively. The highest germination percentage ۹۰.۷۵ recorded at ۲۵°C for seeds of S.persica using pleated paper and ۶۵.۷۵ at ۲۰-۳۰°C for seeds of S.begelovii germinated on top of the paper, while the lowest germination percentage ۳.۵ was observed at ۲۰-۳۰°C for seeds of S.begelovii in sand substrate.
