Structural Interpretation of Meyal Area by Using Seismic and DEM Data, Northern Potwar, Pakistan abstract
The current research focused on structural interpretation of Meyal Field which is one of the most important hydrocarbon-producing fields in Pakistan’s Potwar Basin and lineament analysis of Potwar. Lineaments are defined as the linear features or the lines used to indicate line-shaped features on the ground surface. The current study focuses on the underlying features that affect Mesozoic-Cenozoic successions, with the Eocene Chor Gali and Sakesar formations as the primary reservoir units. Data from five seismic lines and two wells (aligned with those lines) have been thoroughly analyzed, with amazing and enormous calibration. Seismic techniques were used to analyze the Eocene successions, which are two prominent and major reflectors. The seismic line’s two-way travel time (TWT) was used to create time structure maps. Lineament analysis along with drainage and landcover analysis is also done to mark areas of petroleum interest in the Potwar Basin. GIS is used to analyze DEM data using various steps.
