Abstract:

Background: Endometriosis dis torts pelvic function and anatomythrough adhesions which could be associated with disordersin ovulation, fertilization and implantation in women withthis problem. Recent advances in assis ted reproductive techniquesincluding artificial insemination and egg donation haveincreased the likelihood of childbearing for women with endometriosiswho wish to have children. Objective: The presents tudy was conducted to compare between laboratory fertilizationand egg donation in women with endometriosis.Materials and Methods: This sys tematic review was performedin Medline, EMBASE, Cochrane library, Science directand Springer databases to find relevant articles. Search termsincluded lab oratory insemination, egg donation and endometriosis.Cohort s tudies (prospective and retrospective, case-controland case report s tudies assessing the results of egg donation andlaboratory fertilization techniques in infertility among womenwith endometriosis were included. Out of ۵۲ papers identifiedthrough initial search, ۴۰ relevant s tudies were selected fromwhich, ۱۹ papers were included in this sys tematic review.Results: As compared to egg donation, rate of fertility and implantationwere lower in laboratory fertilization per each cycleof using this technique in women with endometriosis (after ۳course of treatment, ۴۸ v ۵۸%). A direct association was observedbetween age of egg donor, egg quality, number of transferredfetuses to the uterus with implantation and live birthpregnancies (P<۰.۰۵).Conclusion: It seems that egg donation method could be amongacceptable approaches in order for infertility treatment amongwomen with endometriosis.
