Abstract:
In this work SiO۲ nanoparticles with different weight percentages of ۰%, ۰.۵%, ۰.۷۵%, ۱% and ۱.۲۵% by weight of cement, were added to the cement mortar. To investigate the effect of these nanoparticles on the corrosion resistance of rebar inside the concrete, polarization tests were obtained in ۳.۵% sodium chloride solution. The investigation of corrosion resistance of different samples showed that by adding these nanoparticles to the mortar, the corrosion current decreases and the corrosion potential increases., the results showed that adding more than an optimal amount causes a relative decrease in corrosion resistance
