Abstract:
The effect of carbon as reducing agent on the reduction behavior and crushing strength of ironore composite pellets at ۱۳۷۳ K was investigated. The results showed that as the content ofcarbon increases from ۰ to ۱۵%, the amount of wustite increases to ۲۱.۹۸%, and the amount ofmetallic iron increases to ۹.۲۱%. Microstructure investigation of the pellets reveals that theincrease of porosity and generation of particles defect pellets lead to the strength loss. The coldcrushing strength (CCS) before adding carbon was ۲۱۴.۹۰ Kg/pellet. On the other hands, afteradding carbon to ۱۵%, CCS decreased to ۱۲۶.۶۳ Kg/pellet due to porosity generation.Controlling the reduction behavior and strength of carbon composite pellets in this paper wasfound to be an effective strategy for material used in iron making industries.
