A Systematic Review of Smokeless Tobacco Use in Iran

Background: Smokeless tobacco use is one of the most important public health problems inSoutheast Asia. The use of these substances increases the incidence of some cancers and otherdiseases. The purpose of our review was to determine the situation of Smokeless tobacco use inIranMethods: A literature search was conducted on the PubMed database, Google Scholar and SID,ScienceDirect, Scopus and Web od Science) based on the search strategy. We used PRISMA ۲۰۲۰flow chart.Result: The results of our review showed that smokeless tobacco uses in Zahedan, Chabahar andGolestan. There are various types of smokeless tobacco consumed in Iran that have beenmentioned in various articles.Conclusions: The interpretation of the findings showed that if smokeless tobacco use is notprevented, we will see probably the prevalence of it in other provinces of the country in the future.We need a targeted intervention program for reduction or even stop consumption.
