Abstract:
In this paper effects of geometry of dry cooling towers on the flow performance will be investigated. Three different geometries have been considered for different dry cooling towers. The area of the heated surfaces in the lower part of the cooling towers are different, but the heat flows these heated surfaces are the same in all three different cases. Computational simulation of the problem will be carried out by employing a CFD Open-Source code OpenFOAM software. We applied the porous media inside limited zone of heated wall. Results of the fluid flow rate at the exit of the cooling towers obtained by the numerical results of this study in three different cases of the problem under investigation are compared to each other. Also, results of the average temperature of the fluid flow at the exit of the cooling tower in three different cases are compared to each other.
