Abstract:

In recent years, civil aviation has experienced great growth, airports in large or small cities have been built or expanded to serve new routes. One of the issues in the discussion of construction, maintenance and operation of airports is paying attention to the pavement of airports. Due to the high costs of construction of airports, a lot of research has been done on the design and types of airport pavements in recent years. In general, pavement consists of two or more layers that are placed on the substrate, in such a way as to reduce the stress on the substrate to the extent that it can be tolerated by the substrate. Pavements are divided into two types: flexible pavement and rigid pavement in terms of how they react and behave. are divided. In this research, the types of pavements have been investigated and the characteristics of airport pavements compared to normal pavements have been presented. Next, the design methods of other countries were investigated. The results of the investigations show that taking into account the available materials and the weather conditions of the country, the internal regulations are a suitable method for design, but it is necessary that the internal regulations should be revised periodically due to the growth of science in the world and new pavement design methods. In the selection of concrete pavement, especially for road projects, all-round considerations should be made, only paying attention to economic categories creates other problems in the way of projects. Restrictions and working restrictions, investment restrictions, development process in the future and other reasons can take precedence over economic parameters.
