Quality and quantity assessment and sensitivity analysis of groundwater in Kashan plain abstract
In recent decades, excessive uptake from groundwater resources in addition to the effects of drought has lead to a critical drawdown of water table in most plains of Iran. In this research, Kashan plain in Isfahan province has been studied and modeled from groundwater hydraulics, interaction with surface water, and quality perspectives. Due to the adjacent salt lake and excessive discharge from the plain, Kashan aquifer has been subjected to rigorous advance of salt water front in different parts. Therefore, at first groundwater hydraulics in the plain was evaluated and the budget was determined. Then, the relative importance of each factor in this regard was studied from quantity and quality perspectives and sensitivity analysis was performed. Finally, different management strategies and recommendations for optimum water withdrawal from the aquifer was presented
