A study on the influence of cyclic stress ratio on the pore pressure generation in Anzali sand abstract
Behavior of sands under cyclic loading is one of the main topics in geotechnical engineering. Extensive researches have been carried out on the fundamental behavior of sands. A large amount of these researches has concentrated on the process of excess pore water pressure generation under undrained loadings. In this work, a set of cyclic triaxial tests has been carried out on the samples of Anzali sand in order to experimentally simulate the dynamic loadings from sea waves in shallow levels of the soil and under engineering levels of stresses. Samples were prepared by moist tamping method and the process of excess pore water pressure generation under the cyclic loads was monitored and analyzed. The results show that for a specific number of cycles, it is possible to express the generated pore water pressure as a function of the applied cyclic stress ratio by a distinct mathematical pattern
