Abstract:

Introduction:  This study aimed to evaluate the changes in cardiac oxidative stress-antioxidants following the use of tribulus terrestris extract and crocin after exhaustive exercise in the heart tissue of elderly male rats. Methods: In this study, elderly male Wistar rats with an average weight of ۳۰۰ g and an age range of ۱۴ to ۱۸ months were used as the statistical population. A total of ۵۶ rats were selected as a statistical sample and randomly divided into seven groups of ۸, including control, exhausting exercise, exercise + crocin dose of ۵۰ mg, exercise + crocin dose of ۱۰۰ mg, exercise + thrush dose of ۱۰۰ mg, exercise + thrush dose of ۲۰۰ mg, exercise + tortoises were divided into ۴۰۰ mg doses. Results: The results showed that GPX concentration in training groups with doses of ۵۰ and ۱۰۰ crocin was significantly higher than in the vulnerable training group (p<۰.۰۵). In addition, GPX concentration was significantly higher in the groups with ۵۰ and ۱۰۰ doses of crocin than in the exercise groups with ۱۰۰ and ۲۰۰ doses of thistle (p<۰.۰۵). GPX was significantly higher in the exercise group and crocin ۱۰۰ than in the exercise group and thrush ۴۰۰ (p<۰.۰۱). The results also showed that SOD concentration in training groups with doses of ۵۰ and ۱۰۰ crocin was significantly higher than  in the specific exercise group (p<۰.۰۱). SOD concentration was significantly higher in the exercise groups with ۵۰ and ۱۰۰ doses of crocin than in the groups with ۱۰۰ and ۲۰۰ doses of thistle (p<۰.۰۵). Also, SOD was significantly higher in the exercise group and crocin ۱۰۰ than in the exercise group and thrush ۴۰۰ (p<۰.۰۱۷). Conclusion: Therefore, using of antioxidants is recommended to improve heart tissue function in the elderly.
