Experimental and Numerical Investigation of a Unique Radial Fan at Various VolumetricFlow Rates abstract
Radial fans are one of the most widely usedturbomachines in the industry. Due to their expensiveand time-consuming manufacturing process, numerical analysis is a suitable and efficient strategyto ensure the fan’s optimal performance in differentoperating conditions. In the present study, weexamine the performance of a unique radial fan, which has a smaller distance between the disk andshroud compared to conventional fans. The solutionis obtained for a steady-state, turbulent flow using thefinite-volume method on a moving reference frame. To investigate the fan’s performance, the static andtotal pressure difference between the inlet and outletat various volumetric flow rates is analyzed. Thelargest static pressure difference and total pressuredifference are achieved in the volume flow rate of2991 cubic meters per hour. The results demonstratethat there is a good agreement between theexperimental and numerical data.
