In this paper, the parameter identification of cylindricalrotor Synchronous Generators (SGs) via improved 2DFEanalysis is addressed. In this regard, the rotor damperend connection is focused to be precisely modeled in thecoupled external circuit. To this end, the equivalentresistance of the damper end connection is computed viaa 3D static FE model taking the retaining ringconduction into account. The standard short circuit testwill be simulated as an example to identify the dynamicdirect axis parameters.
