Abstract:

In this review, we evaluate the advances in carbon capture, storage and compare these technologies with other techniques for CO۲ storage in different geological structures. Pre-combustion carbon capture involves the conversion of fossil fuels into a gas mixture, which is then treated with carbon capture technologies before combustion. Post-combustion carbon capture, on the other hand, involves the capture of CO۲ from flue gases after combustion. Oxyfuel combustion involves burning fossil fuels in pure oxygen, producing a flue gas consisting primarily of CO۲ and water vapor, which can be captured and stored. Then we discuss the most common methods of CO۲ storage in geological structures included depleted oil and gas reservoirs, deep saline aquifers, coal seams, basaltic formations and clastic formations along with disadvantages and advantages of the whole process and finally the economic consideration of the Carbon Capture Storage and the process involved in
