Abstract:
As a source of life, water plays an essential role in human life, and as the core of life, it has made humanity survive. It is necessary for every person to drink healthy water and use it for various purposes, and therefore the health of water is very important. Considering that healthy water is less available today due to human pressures and continuous droughts, water purification is considered a necessary method to save water resources. The first step in water purification is to identify pollutants and their amount in polluted water. Identifying pollutants in water is a vital and important step in the water purification system. Identifying pollutants is important because it makes it possible to determine the extent of various purification steps and to predict the final destination of the purified water. Biosensors are one of the ways to identify pollutants in water. There are different types of biosensors and according to their performance, they are widely used in various fields such as purification systems, agriculture, biomedical, etc. In this article, the types of biosensors and their application in different areas have been introduced, focusing on the water treatment system, the different components of biosensors, and how biosensors work in identifying pollutants in the treatment system. Also, in the following, the prospects of biosensors in the purification and preservation system of water resources have been investigated.
