Abstract:
In this paper voltage and reactive power control in presence of non-linear loads by means of existing control devices are presented. These optimal existing control devices are onloadtap changer (OLTC), shunt substation capacitors, and shunt feeder capacitors. In this study one of the voltage and reactive power control methods in distribution systems considering operational and control constraints, is procured based on daily load profile forecasting. The objectivefunction includes optimization of active power losses, voltage deviation in substation secondary bus, number of daily OLTC and capacitors operation, the mean of voltage deviation in all buses of system. This problem is solved using binary genetic algorithm optimization. In order tosimplify the control, a method based on time interval is used for determining the tap and capacitors position in each time interval. The simulation is done by linking MATLAB R2010a and DIgSILENT 14.0.515 softwares and is applied to IEEE 30-bus standard distribution system and a feeder in Bardsir region of Kerman province
