Abstract:
Distributed generation resources are used to upgrade older power systems to more efficient systems. Although distributed generation resources have numerous benefits, they can cause protection problems due to multiple configurations. Fault current limiters (FCLs) are used to reduce short circuit current in the network. A change in short-circuit current can cause a change in the protection system settings. In this paper, using the genetic algorithm, the optimal size and location of distributed generation in the power network with the presence of FCL and without it according to the protection settings of the system have been studied. The results of this study were performed on the ۳۳-bus IEEE network.
