Sedimentation Rates in the Caspian Sea and Gorgan Bay: Factors and Implications abstract
Sedimentation is an important process that shapes the morphology and ecology of aquatic ecosystems. In thispaper, we review the sedimentation rates in the Caspian Sea and Gorgan Bay, Iran, and the factors thatinfluence them. The rate of sedimentation in Gorgan Bay is very variable from1mm/y to 7cm/y.We alsodiscuss the implications of sedimentation for the ecosystem and human activities in the region.
