Evaluating the performance of hospitals based on the Pabon Lasso model before and after the transformation plan

Introduction: Hospitals are of particular importance as the most expensive operating unit of the health and treatment system. The level of efficiency can be a measure to measure the performance and efficiency of resource consumption in hospitals. The present study was conducted with the aim of evaluating the efficiency of hospitals covered by Shahid Sadougi University of Medical Sciences in Yazd and non-university hospitals in Yazd using the Pabon Lasso diagram before and after the implementation of the health transformation plan.Materials and methods: The current research is a cross-sectional descriptive study that was conducted in 12 hospitals with the aim of investigating the efficiency of the hospitals before and after the health transformation plan. Data were collected using the hospital activity form (hospital statistics and information). Three indicators of bed occupancy percentage, bed turnover rate and average patient stay were calculated and the location of the hospitals was determined in terms of the mentioned indicators and analyzed by drawing the Pabon Lasso diagram.Findings: Prior to the use of the health system transformation project, 50% of the total of 12 university nosocomios was in the third area (optimal efficiency), and in the years after the health system transformation project, 33% was in the third area of the Pabon Lasso Model (optimal efficiency). Conclusion: Generally, in accordance with the Paben-Lasso model diagram, after the use of the health system transformation project, tand a decrease in hospital efficiency has been seen. Therefore, it seems essential that managers and political causes of the health sector take measures to improve efficiency and increase the implementation of resources.
