Abstract:

In recent years, due to the increase in environmental damage, such as actions that have increased the global temperature, as well as the increase in war and terrorism around the world, we have seen an increase in various disasters. In this study, we examined two of the most important topics in humanitarian logistics from the Operational Research (OR) perspective. The first topic addressed is equity and fairness, which concerns with distributing relief items equally and fairly among the victims. The second topic is resiliency, a set of actions that make the system less vulnerable to disasters and quickly return to pre-disaster conditions. We introduce the basic concepts for each topic, review the corresponding literature focusing on OR application, and outline research gaps.
