Preparation of 3 - alkyl indole derivatives using epoxide opening catalyzed by nano alumina sulfonic acid (Al2O3-So3H)

Epoxides can be opened in a regioselective and efficient manner with nitrogen heterocycles such as indoles, pyrrolesand imidazoles in the presence of a catalytic amount of nano alumina sulfonic acid under mild conditions to afford the corresponding 3-alkylated indole derivatives in good yields and with a high regioselectivity.
