Information Literacy & Dominant Information-Seeking Behavior AmongParents of Children with Cystic Fibrosis (CF)

Purpose: The purpose of this article is to investigate how to receive and recognize correct information and how to inform parents of children with CF. Material and methods: The current research is exploratory, and the survey method has been used to conduct the research. To collect information in this research, a researcher-made questionnaire tool with ۱۰ Likert scale questions and ۲ open-ended questions was used. The research community was all ۶۰۰ members of the CF specialized center in Tehran (children's medical center), of which ۲۳۵ members responded to the questionnaire based on Morgan's table as a research sample. Results: Education and age did not show a significant relationship with people's information literacy, and the participants' information literacy skills were average in levels ۱, ۳, and ۴ of the ACRL standard and weak in level ۲, and of course, level ۵ was not measured. The information needs of the participants and the channels to meet these needs were determined. Discussion: The information needs of the participants could be divided into three categories, also most of the participants met their needs through the web and internet networks, and then consulted with doctors and shared information, and also they used the media, and articles and books used very little.
